Literature Text

Fear is like a monster
that's just waiting to strike.
It crouches low behind a rock
and steals away the light

It makes you feel like a little kid,
so timid and afraid.
It makes the world look evil,
as if you're in your grave.

You cry and scream and run away,
and painfully try to cope
With the fact the world may always be
a destitute of hope

But then you see the sun come up,
for the first time you see the light.
You see those who are just as scared as you
and realize you must fight.

You must fight this evil,
not to show you're brave.
To show them you will not collapse,
to show you're not a slave.

When they see your determination
when they see your angered face.
They realize the mistake they made
to ever invade this place.

As they flee your sacred country,
you know your people have a new start.
They've embraced the weapon that killed their fear,
the courage in their hearts.

You take this lesson you've just learned,
which speaks as you faithfully hear.
You must not be halted by yourself
You must not give into fear.
One of my newer poems, but it's still somewhat old.

This was the first poem I wrote after I was inspired to start writing again. I'd given up writing for over 4 years, so needless to say, I was quite rusty when I penned this down. But the fact I was still able to rhyme encouraged me to keep improving, which I continue to do to this day. :)
